On 09.09.09 The Beatles, also known as the greatest damn band in the land, entire (canon) back catalogue was re-released in re-mastered versions. Not just every record as a new disc, but even a big ol' box with everything in it. This was while my lovely lady was here and she decided to pick herself up on here because it would be more expensive in the lucky country. Therefore we spend a goodly amount of time listening to the various discs while we drove around. We both came to the conclusion that they sound amazing.
Before she left she forced me to let her buy a second box for me. This was not an easy task, not the least reason because they were sold out everywhere we tried. I did manage to put a hold on one at a local Borders that, apparently, someone else had a hold on and didn't bother picking up. I tried to convince her not to spend the cash on me, but she was not to be denied.
Anyway, I've listened to nothing but The Beatles since we picked hers up, on either the ninth or tenth, can't remember, but we were lucky to find that one too. Anyways, listening to such a great band for such a long time has made me go all crazy. I've spent more than a normal amount of time reading Wikipedia articles (every. song.) and am fairly certain I'm going to be dropping coin on the big Anthology set (which is on sale on Amazon right now, but I'm broker than usual). I also need to pick up a few strays, Let It Be...Naked and Love among them.
It makes me think, though, why was I so intent on not listening to the Beatles when people tried to expose me to them at a younger age. It took years before I started listening to them. Feels like a lot of wasted time listening to garbage and proclaiming it good.

1. You're to stop complaining that I bought you Beatles. YOU NEEDED TO OWN IT. So there.
2. You resisted because sometimes you can be stubborn, not as stubborn as I, but still.
Welcome to the Mersey Side.
